Finding the Best Policy
Getting yourself (or your children if you are currently teaching your kids how to drive) the best car insurance policy all depends on how much money you are willing to pay every month, how much you care about the state of your car and how good of driver you feel you are. There are three types of car insurance cover to choose from. These are third party, third party fire and theft and fully comprehensive. Third party is the least comprehensive and, as the name suggests, fully comprehensive, is the most.
Third Party
Third party is the cheapest type of car insurance policy out of and the three. This policy's main drawback is that it leaves you exposed with very little protection for your car. This type of cover means that if you crash, the damaged done to other people will be paid for, but the damaged done to your car will not.
The large problem with this type of car for many people is that no repairs on your car are included, so if you have a fairly bad accident and the cost of repairing the car are too large, it is likely that you will have to write your car off. This is going to be the best type of policy for you if you someone who does not have that much money to pay for your car insurance and you do not care too much about the state of your car. Prime examples of people who opt to take this policy cover are first time buyers who have an old car that they don't care that much about and which they are using to improve their car skills.
The other type of car insurance cover you can go for is third party fire and theft, this is a slight upgrade from the third party cover as it will cover the costs of damages to your car in circumstances where it is stolen or it catches on fire. Just like third party cover however, this type of policy unfortunately does not cover the costs of repairing your car in a crash. Some people say that the price increase you pay for third party fire and theft is not justified because it only gives you a little bit more protection. Whether this is true or not depends on the area you are living in, if car theft is quite high in your area it could be well worth the money to get out third party fire and theft.
Fully Comprehensive
This is the best type of policy to get if you have the money to get it. This is because it will pay for virtually anything that happens to you and your car. All damages to the car will be taken care of and paid for without you having to contribute and sometimes your medical bills will even be paid for if you are seriously hurt in a car accident.
The drawback of this policy is the amount of money it will cost you ever month. Having this level of comprehensive cover does not come cheap and you will see this when you compare the monthly payment differences between third party, third party fire and theft and fully comprehensive. The price of fully comprehensive is significantly more than the other two are per month, whereas the jump in price between third party and third party fire and theft is comparatively a lot smaller. Ultimately finding the best policy is about knowing what you realistically can pay for and what requirements you want from your car insurance. Figure this out first and you should be able to get a policy which is suited to you.
