Repairs That Can be Done Alone

Some of the most of common and frequent problems that people deal with relate to their radiator and their headlights. Repairing these two areas does not require any mechanical understanding and very little tools. All you need is some elbow grease and a little time and these repairs can be done quickly and easily.
Changing A Headlight Bulb
Headlight bulb damages are a very common occurrence for drivers, your headlight bulb can simply die and go out, or it can be cracked and damaged by another car. A whole range of things can lead you to having to replace your headlight bulb but the important thing to do when you realise you have to change it, is to do so as soon as possible. The longer you have a faulty headlight bulb the more damage you are putting yourself and others in when driving at night. So by learning how to change one you are going to make everyone a lot safer.
Firstly you need to remove your current headlight. To do this you pop open the hood of your car and reach around where the back of the headlight is. You should be able to find a bulb holder which will have three wires attached to it. You will have to unsecure the cap or clip attached to the bulb holder as so it is free for you to take off.
You should then be able to take off the faulty headlight bulb. Once you have done this you grab your new bulb and fit it back into the position that the old one was in. Once you have screwed the bulb back on tightly you can close the hood up and you should have a new and perfectly fine bulb to use as part of your headlight.
Flush Your Radiator
If your car keeps overheating more often than you think it should do, it could be because your radiator has gotten a bit dirty and damaged inside. To fix this problem you need to flush out all the dirty stuck inside so your coolant fluid can move around easily and cool down the engine of your vehicle quickly. First thing to take on board before you do this is do not do whilst your engine is hot, do it when your car has not been on for a while and the engine and everything else is cool.
If the engine is cool the first thing you will need to do is drain the coolant fluid in the radiator. Once you have done this you should have some radiator flush cleaning fluid which you can put into the radiator. After leaving this for a while you need simply drain this fluid and all the dirt and horrible bits that were clogging up your radiator will come out.
After this simply refill your radiator with coolant fluid again and you should have a well functioning radiator again which will not overheat that frequently anymore. By following these tips you should be able to effectively deal with two key car repairs that can be done alone quickly and easily. This is going to save you money from an unjustifiable expensive repair job at a garage.
